install the software
mine came with a headset......install a mic/headphone that comes with it
check for updates
it will then make you read a few paragraphs to see how you speak

boot OS disk to command prompt and do a chkdsk /r
or tap F8 during boot and see if u get menu allowing safe mode command prompt
if you have OS DVD for vista then there will be an option to do startup repair
probably time to go shopping

secure the admin password don't leave it at default
update the firmware
change the ssid to something that only makes sense to u so u know what ur connecting to
change the wireless security to WPA2 Personal use a long password with cap and numbers etc
when u connect your wireless devices you will choose WPA2 and use the long password u created
