Home Network

Many of us have Small Office/Home Office Networks or want to set one up. Possibly just to share the Internet among multiple computers. This forum is about networking: set up, hardware - hubs, routers, etc.

I recently purchased a new home desk top computer with Windows 7 as it's operating system. I would like to network two Windows XP laptops with this new unit ( and possibly a Vista laptop ). My previous desk top was Windows XP based and seemed very simple to do. If you could recommend a good resource for this procedure I would be very gratetful. Thank you in advance.

1. all computers need to be in the same workgroup by defualt xp's workgroup name is "MSHOME" and by default Vista and Win7's worgroup name is "WORKGROUP" they need to be the same on all machines and u can call it whatever u want .... like "MYSTUFF" .....whatever u want but the workgroup name needs to be the same on all computers
2. if sharing resourses like folders or printers the system with the shared resource must have file and print sharing enabled
3. then the resource must be shared with the proper share permission for the resource
